Looking for a leader to oversee the slaughter and processing of all animals in accordance with HACCP Program & Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures. Works closely with USDA inspector to maintain standards at AHAC.
-Recruit & hire staff. Work with Financial Manager to decide personnel wages, raise and benefits.
-Approve customer invoices & bills . Knowledgeable in payroll, taxes & financial issues.
-Review cutting instructions each day, ensures timely & efficient work throughout the plant
-Establish work schedules
-Responsible for effective team operations in the Kill Floor, Smoke & Processing rooms
-Responsible for training & supervising kill floor, processing & smoke room staff, including discipline & termination of personnel
-know, understand & be able to use all the equipment
-Observe & maintain company sanitation & food safety standards
-Ensure proper tracking of products from live animals to finished cuts - including carcass, order and freezer management
-Ensure a clean, neat & organized work area
-Maintain strong working relationship with other processors & vendors in the area
-Needs to be a self starter with strong interpersonal skills & ability to create a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills, along with excellent butchering skills and the ability to teach those skills to staff.
-Lift carcasses or cases of meat of at least 100 pounds on routine basis. Stand or walk 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F the majority of the time. Perform repetitive motions as the product is identified, wrapped and weighed. Use tools and equipment to cut and prepare meat product.
5 years minimum experience as a butcher in a slaughter plant preferred.
High school education preferred and equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $50,000.00 - $65,000.00
