The Opportunity: Twin Farms is seeking an experienced farmer and expert team leader to manage all aspects of a small, diverse farm and a thorough knowledge of 4 season production. The Farm Manager is a key position as it holds and directs the balance of production, sustainability, resource management and guest education. This is a leadership role which requires equal skill and commitment to both the farm and to providing exceptional experiences for our guests.
Collaboration: The Farm Manager collaborates closely with the Culinary Team to scale farm resources to manage the additional volume of work throughout the growing season. This position reports to the Executive Chef and has one direct report and is responsible for hiring and managing.
Our Farm Manager will help manage our 1.5 acre of intensive vegetable production plus 1 high tunnel and 1 greenhouse. What we grow on the farm goes directly into our kitchen.
Job Requirements:
- Capacity to work in variable weather conditions
- Flexibility in daily duties.
- Willingness to work independently as well as in teams.
- Attention to detail.
- A valid driver’s license is required because operating company vehicles is a component of this job.
- Daily field work including seeding, transplanting, trellising, hand weeding, greenhouse work, harvest, post-harvest washing and packing, and other field projects
- Ensuring tasks are completed correctly, efficiently, and safely with attention to detail and quality standards.
- Communicating crop conditions, abundance or scarcity to the culinary team, helping scout for pests, diseases or other problems encountered during daily harvests
- Operating tractors, trucks, and other farm equipment
- Knowledge of Apiary / Honey production is a plus.
