Job description

Garbage to Garden is in search of a motivated and creative individual to join our team as our Marketing & Communications Director.

 

As Marketing & Communications Director, you will be responsible for driving residential adoption of curbside composting, creating effective brand messaging and managing “the voice” through social media channels, creating and executing marketing campaigns promoting our services, and cultivating community relationships. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Growing and managing our brand, creating effective brand messaging
  • Effectively speak and write publicly on behalf of the organization
  • Creating and executing marketing plans and maintain a marketing calendar 
  • Creating and driving effective marketing initiatives across multiple platforms
  • Managing current marketing efforts including social media, google ads, PR, blog content, email marketing, and community-based direct-marketing 
  • Managing direct marketing efforts

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+  years of relevant professional experience (e.g. marketing, social media management, entrepreneurial media, communications)
  • Be a self-starter, comfortable taking initiative in the face of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated track record of building effective marketing plans 
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms with an ability to think creatively about how to leverage each platform for effective storytelling moments
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Basic photography skills
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Suite, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with paid advertising on Facebook, Instagram, search engines, etc.
  • Flexible with regards to job tasks and working conditions

 

This position will be based at our Portland office with the option to work remotely part of the time. Working from our Portland office will be required 2 days per week. 

The annual salary for this position is $50,000 plus benefits.
