We are a 200 acre certified organic farm in Chenango County, NY.

We produce what we believe is good for our families and thus would be good for yours. We grow food to secure for ourselves and our customers, a healthy alternative to what is presently available. We produce food that is free of harsh chemicals and is grown using natural fertilizers. We strongly believe that food should nourish and not cause any harm to our bodies or the environment.

Our produce is sold primarily in New York via farmers markets, restaurants and CSA.

Job description

We are a 200-acre organic farm in Chenango County NY, looking for someone with a culinary background to assist with multiple projects. This is a full-time position (48-60 hours per week) with a commitment to at least one season.

Job Description

Assist with all aspects from seed to table. This includes, but is not limited to:

-Crop planning

-Oversight crops in the fields for quality and ripeness (from a culinary point of view)

-Oversight of harvesting and packing, paying meticulous detail to sorting custom specs for specific chefs/customers.

-Quality control for all produce leaving the farm

-Working with software program, and helping to integrate new systems based on technology

-Planning contents of CSA shares based on value, theme and inventory

-Creating basic content for CSA shares such as vegetable descriptions, cooking instruction and simple (user friendly) recipes.

-Creating basic content used to merchandise specialty product at Farmers Markets and online

Qualifications

-Extensive knowledge of produce used in fine dining and international cuisine

-5+ years restaurant experience, with a minimum of 2 years as a sous chef or cdc

-Ability to lift and carry heavy items (50lb+)

-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and/or Google Docs

-Ability to multitask

-Prior farm experience not a must, but a plus

-Excellent organization and communication skills

Compensation

this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $40,000.00 - $60,000.00
