Job description
Clean Plates is seeking a Head of Content to oversee the production of content across our web, email, and social channels. Our content lead will plan, assign, edit, write, and produce both short- and long-lead stories, as well as branded content. They will manage a team of freelancers, maintain a robust editorial calendar, assist and work with audience development, source artwork, and ensure that monthly benchmarks are met. Expertise in wellness- and nutrition-related topics and a love for wellness-focused products and services are not required, but valued. This is a full-time, remote-work position.
Responsibilities:
- Conceive, pitch, write, edit, and execute short-lead and long-lead content across multiple channels, including web stories, emails, social media posts, videos, and branded content.
- Ensure that Clean Plates editorial voice and aesthetic are maintained through all channels, products, and assets.
- Manage monthly and quarterly content calendars.
- Build and manage a network of freelancers to ensure diverse content producers and timely submissions.
- Stay on top of latest trends through social media, industry contacts, and news outlets.
- Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to produce better pitches and SEO-friendly content.
- Contribute to soon-to-be launched commerce/subscription offering when possible.
- Oversee other content-related projects as needed.
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 5 years relevant digital editorial experience.
- Strong, creative writer with an interest in wellness lifestyle and an ability to write for broad, diverse audience. Clear and fast editor, punctilious about copy and style.
- Highly skilled in research, interviewing, assigning, and editing.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and to quickly adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information.
- Strong knowledge of SEO strategy (or a desire to develop one).
- Highly organized and detail-oriented in writing and organization.
- Process-driven self-starter who can hit deadlines.
- Experience in digital tools such as Slack, Google Analytics, etc. is preferred.
- College degree required; advanced education in nutrition, wellness, or culinary arts preferred.

Compensation
