Haven’s Kitchen began with the belief that everyone has it in them to walk around their kitchen like a champion. That rings true from our first day as a cooking school 9 years ago, to the products we make today and tomorrow.
We launched our first line of easy-squeezy, flavor-packed, fresh sauces in 2018, and since then have grown rapidly, selling across the US in Whole Foods, Stop and Shop, Target and about 1000 independent grocers.

Job description
The Haven’s Kitchen test kitchen, located in our new Soho office, will serve as our home base for all content creation and will be heart & soul of our company. As the Test Kitchen Chef/Manager, you will be working to oversee all kitchen activities, from inventory to on camera cooking videos. While kitchen maintenance, team lunch and inventory management are the bulk of your day-to- day, you will also be working closely with our Senior Content Manager and our Brand Manager for weekly recipe R&D and preparation for all photoshoots and cooking classes. As our in-house cooking instructor, you will lead many of our cooking classes both virtually and in-person. You’ll bring your personality, passion, fun facts and unique skills to the table to create a delicious and engaging experience for our team and our community.
This role is based in NYC and is required to be onsite at our Headquarters.
Core Responsibilities
Daily Kitchen Responsibilities

Prepare a daily team lunch. This can be a simple soup & salad or repurposing ingredients, meals from photoshoots of the week

Develop & maintain organizational systems for the test kitchen. This includes, but is not limited to, ordering, storage, cleaning, composting & garbage

Maintenance and cleanliness of the test kitchen: Dishes, countertops, pantry, refrigerators, tools etc...

Work closely with the team for weekly sourcing of all fresh and pantry items

Arrange and oversee any necessary repair services, troubleshoot appliances, etc.

Collaborate closely with the marketing team to brainstorm, develop and test 4-5 Haven’s Kitchen original recipes each week

Deliver fully written, fully edited recipes

Keep recipes seasonal, simple, global and in accordance with brand guidelines and general aesthetic/vibe

Continually educate yourself on trends and lifestyles (paleo, vegan, keto, etc.) allergies & other dietary restrictions

Work with Senior Content Manager to source & organize ingredients for weekly photoshoots & cooking classes/events

Prep food for all photoshoots and videos as necessary

Upkeep of kitchen and prop inventory

Teach a variety of demonstration and hands-on classes for in-person & virtual classes

Manage class schedule & requisition forms and systems for outside teachers, guests

Travel occasionally with founder & sales team for in-person retailer demonstrations

The unicorn that is both highly creative and super organized and efficient

Minimum 2 years’ experience in kitchen management

Formal culinary training welcome, but not required

Extensive home cooking experience required

Ability to interpret a storyboard or shoot script and prep food/props accordingly

Excellent verbal and written communications skills: Ability to organize and communicate
information using spreadsheets, shared docs & calendars

Excellent teamwork skills and willingness to wear multiple hats

Ability to thrive in a start-up environment

Familiarity with grocery sourcing in NYC (hand-shopping, online ordering, farmers markets, etc.)

A self-starter who can hit the ground running

Compensation
this position is: salaried, $50,000 - $75,000
