Job description
We have three positions available;
1 full-time, year round position (40 hrs/wk)
2 full-time, seasonal positions, running mid-September through mid-May with flexible start date (40 hrs/wk)
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; at least 1 season of intensive vegetable production experience, a valid driver’s license (because driving is an aspect of the job duties), ability to lift 50 pounds, and ability to work in all types of weather conditions in the South Florida climate
Paradise Farms is looking for three hard-working, positive, and innovative individuals to join our farm team for the upcoming season. The work week generally runs Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm with an hour lunch break, half paid and half unpaid. Some staff will work weekend farmers markets and their weekday hours will be adjusted accordingly.
All positions will take part in all aspects of field and greenhouse production. Tasks include but are not limited to: Planting, seeding, harvesting, CSA packing, seed saving, weeding, pruning, irrigation and irrigation repair, mushroom production, tractor work, composting, landscaping, mulching, general cleaning, repair, and maintenance, harvest projections, record keeping, volunteer training and supervision, on-farm events, and market sales. The full-time, year-round employee will take on more responsibility as a crew leader and will help plan and delegate daily tasks. Uniforms will be provided and are required for all employees.
All positions must be constantly monitoring the efficiency and efficacy of their work with an eye towards learning, improving, innovating, and simplifying while always ensuring the highest quality production. Regular analysis, discussion, and constructive feedback will aid in this. All staff are encouraged to research, explore, and share their organic agricultural interests and discoveries including new crop varieties, value added products, Biodynamic, no-till, and natural farming practices, etc.
*Housing is available on-site; private/rustic cabins and shared outdoor kitchen, bathroom and showers
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $10/hr to $15/hr
