About Us:

Vibrant Valley Farm is a female owned and operated vegetable, flower and natural dye farm on Sauvie Island, 20 minutes outside of Portland, Oregon.

We are heading into our tenth season, and are excited to expand our flower production, dye projects and continue to grow our restaurant and local food community. We are gearing up for another season and look forward to sharing this land with you.

Job description

Position Description:

This upcoming season we are looking for someone that can start two- three days this winter, starting November 1st, increasing to four days a week into the spring, summer and fall months. This position is roughly 40 hours a week peak season and 20-30 hours during the shoulder seasons. This person would harvest, pack vegetables, harvest flowers and dye plants, tend to farm tasks including weeding, planting and overall crop maintenance.

Qualifications:

*At least 3 seasons full time farm experience.

*Experience working with a diverse array of crops.

*Rigor to work independently and in a group setting, while maintaining efficiency.

*Understanding of big picture farm systems, while not losing attention to detail.

*Ability to lift heavy loads of product and working with attention to body mechanics and safety.

*Comfortable communicating with others about systems and tasks.

*Someone that is excited about farming and wants to grow in their experience as a farmer.

*Ideally someone that has used power tools, knows how to operate irrigations systems, and or knows how to drive a tractor.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
