Riverbank Farm is a thirty two year old certified organic vegetable and cut flower farm operating along the beautiful Shepaug river in Roxbury CT. We grow a full variety of seasonal vegetables sold at farmers markets, restaurants and natural food stores. On our farm we have a commercial kitchen where we prepare vegetarian, dips, pestos, salads, lacto fermented foods and canned goods to sell at local farmers markets throughout the year. Each year, we hire a dedicated crew who enjoy learning how to run a successful small farm and share in the challenges and bounty of the farm season. Internship description

We are currently looking hire four apprentices for the 2021 season. Interns are given the opportunity to learn about all aspects of managing a successful market farm. These activities include plant propagation, cultivation (manual and mechanized), record keeping, harvesting, and marketing for our busy farmer's markets. There are opportunities to learn the basics of soil fertility, greenhouse management, farming with tractors and farm mechanizations, irrigation, effective vegetable marketing. There is the opportunity for all apprentices to work in our kitchen with our chef and learn basic food preparation. We have been hosting apprentices at our farm for over twenty-five years, training many future farmers and food lovers.

We have joined with other Connecticut farms to start an intern training program(CT CRAFT). Interns will visit other farms throughout the season for a farm tour and meeting with farmers and other interns.

Internships start in April/May of 2021. We are flexible with start dates. Staring wage is $14/hr. Hours rage from 40-50/week. We have two houses in town two miles from the farm where apprentices can rent a room for $350/month or they can find their own housing.
