von Trapp Farmstead is a family run organic-regenerative dairy in Waitsfield Vermont. The dairy has been in our family since 1959. In 2009 we started making cheese as a way to keep the farm in the family and create a more sustainable business. We believe in organic-regenerative practices and keeping Vermont a working landscape. We work hard to take great care of the land and animals so that our cows produce the best milk so we can make delicious cheeses and yogurts! In an effort to complete another waste stream loop and add the most value, we raise whey fed pigs that happily consume whey, the byproduct of cheese making. They are also fed organic day old bread from Red Hen Baking that would otherwise be composted. We turn our byproduct and our neighbors byproducts into delicious whey fed pork salami to accompany our line of fine cheeses!

We are a small, family run dairy and cheese making operation.http://www.vontrappfarmstead.comWe're currently seeking a cheese affineur(aging) specialist.This job offers opportunities to work with our lead cheesemaker on all aspects of cheese production. The position focuses on taking care of our cheeses in our aging cellar as well as assisting the lead cheesemaker with various steps in production.A desire to learn and interest in cheesemaking are a must! Experience is preferred. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in cheesemaking or food production. We hold ourselves, and are held to, the to highest standards of quality, consistency, and food safety in our industry. Anyone looking to learn what that takes, will find this job challenging and incredibly interesting.It's important to be prepared for work that is repetitive, requires serious attention to detail, is physically demanding, and entails lots and lots of cleaning and sanitation.
