Cheesemonger

  • Location New York, NY
  • Category Business
  • Job type Part-Time

Company description

We are the offshoot of 67Wine, which for 80 years has been one of the leading wine retailers in New York City.  It's the kind of place that features everything from an economical Chardonnay to renown Burgundies and Bordeaux and the spirits selection ranges from well known brands to small batch spirits from well respected producers.

Job description

Our inventory is unique.  We are selling artisan cheeses in pre-packed forms (thinki Mini Harbison or Mini Kunik), and many of our sales will involve adding cheese to deliveries of wine from 67Wine and then calling the couriers..These will have to be handled quickly as we promise one hour delivery.  For our in person sales, you will be expected to generate enthusiasm for our cheeses and the world of artisan cheese in general.  You'll be working with me directly (more on me here, https://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/23/dining/creative-cheesemongers-pen-clever-descriptions.html) and I love teaching about cheese and how it pairs with wine.  So prior knowledge while helpful is not a prerequisite.  We want a hard working foodie who loves cheese and wine and is eager to further their relationship to each.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
