Job description
We seek an assistant farm manager to join our full-time farm staff. The assistant manager will work closely with the farm manager to assist in all aspects of ICF’s livestock operation, including executing the livestock and grazing plans, maintaining and managing the farm operations and equipment, and tending to day-to-day animal needs. There may be opportunities to add additional farm infrastructure, including vegetable gardens, composting, and a small, rehabilitated orchard.
This position will include all aspects of a calving operation, including artificial insemination, vetting, birthing, and cow/calf care. Applicants should be happy to perform demanding and repetitive physical labor in heat, rain or cold, either alone or with the farm manager. An ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with the manager and keep the farm running smoothly when the manager is dealing with other farm responsibilities or is out of town.
Within the next few years, the farm operations will likely shift to more diverse farming, incorporating even more regenerative agriculture principles. We seek candidates excited about the opportunity to plan and design the future of ICF beyond the livestock operation.
The job also includes responsibilities related to the management and maintenance of a private estate with several houses, a swimming pool, two golf greens, and a fishing lodge.
