Job description
The Harvest to Order Market Manager reports directly to the Program Director. They are responsible for our direct to consumer retail model and managing our online farmers market, Harvest to Order (H2O). The position requires taking a critical look at both supply and demand and developing strategies to ensure both are met and implementing systems and processes that are efficient and effective to achieve those goals. The H2O Market Manager is part of a larger, market team that works together each week to organize, receive and distribute food from local farms. They will be trained on all aspects of the organization in order to have a well-round understanding for how things work and have the ability to fill different roles as needed. These roles will include: building orders in the warehouse; working in the Farmacy, helping to maintain the warehouse.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Become proficient in managing the online sales software, Local Orbit.
- Open the online market:
- Coordinate with producers for submitting their Product Availability forms; organize and allocate inventory to compile a master availability list; work with Farm to Market coordinator to analyze and reduce gaps in the market based on seasonality; enter products proficiently to our online market; review market for errors and be sure it is balanced and robust; produce our newsletter for buyers.
- Close the online market:
- Handle customer service questions; execute end of market procedures; closing market procedures include managing our Subscription orders; managing and allocating inventory across markets and; organize farmer pick lists.
- Work with Program Director in coordinating with farms on the contents of the weekly Harvest Box
- Work with Program Director to strategize the growth and success of the Harvest to Order program.
- Work with the Retail Manager to manage specialty products and ensure product availability matches warehouse inventory.
- Communicate with Retail Manager on produce and specialty products orders
- Assist in maintaining a data tracking for the online markets
- Work in the warehouse to receive the product when it arrives helping to organize the product for order building and distribution
- Work on the sales floor to build and distribute customer orders
- Work with the warehouse team to maintain cleaning standards
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience in food distribution and/or agricultural production, as well as a background in logistics management and sales. Excellent attention to detail, organization, customer relations, and the ability to manage competing deadlines is essential. The position is very diverse requiring both a fair bit of office/computer time as well as time on the warehouse floor working with produce and moving boxes. Candidate should be comfortable to move boxes over 30lbs. This position is located in Truckee, California in the Lake Tahoe region.
Compensation & Benefits:
Harvest to Order Market Manager is a 40hr/week position starting at $22/hr. Benefits include three paid sick/personal days per year. Health benefits are available for staff working 40hrs/week. All employees get 25% off all store purchases. It is expected that these roles will be performed in-person in our warehouse in Truckee.
Compensation
