RESTAURANT DESCRIPTION
Stissing House is the twentieth oldest tavern in America, dating from 1782. Clare de Boer, co-owner and co-chef of King Restaurant in New York City, is re-opening this historic restaurant in March 2022. The food and hospitality will follow the lead of the charming farmhouse-style building: generous, local, simply prepared, with ample use of the restaurant’s renowned wood-burning hearth. The restaurant seats up to 80 guests and includes three fireplace lounge areas, a second story for events and in Fall 2002, a deli/bakery. The property also includes a two-acre garden for outdoor dining.
Job description
Position Summary
The primary role of the line cook is to prepare and maintain their station and execute dishes during service. We will be working in an open kitchen, where the primary heat source will be wood oven and grill and cooking locally sourced ingredients. These job duties will require culinary knowledge or a willingness to learn.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver properly prepared food as per kitchen guidelines
- Maintain updated knowledge of all food menus.
- Communicate with the CDC directly and expediently on all issues to ensure the kitchen runs as smoothly as possible.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and ensure all rules ranging from FIFO to sanitation protocols are being fully accomplished.
- Complete assigned prep and cleaning duties within each shift in an efficient and professional manner
- Act in a professional manner with the awareness that all actions and communications are within guest view
- Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to work well in a team with good communication and supporting other team members as needed.
- Exercises sound and safe judgment within a potentially hazardous environment
- Ability to work in a fast paced kitchen environment under time pressure and with precision.
- Prioritizes and plans work effectively and efficiently.
- Observes and implements all safety and security procedures.
- Follows kitchen protocol
Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Experience preferred but not required.

Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $16.00 - $21.00
