ShakeyGround Farm is a small, diversified collaborative operation just a stone's throw from Lake Champlain in Charlotte, VT. The produce operation consists of about 1-acre of no-till, certified organic growing space. We grow over 75 different vegetables for CSA, grocers, farmers market, and our on-site farmstand. We grow with the long term sustainability of the land and soil as our top priority, avoiding quick fix/ band aids that are negligent to the future of the farm. We work extremely hard and fast, but also have a lot of fun.

ShakeyGround farm is seeking a part-time to full-time farmer to work directly with and assist the Produce Manager in all aspects of organic vegetable production. As we are a tiny team, the farmer will have a hand in all parts of the operation including but not limited to; seeding, transplanting, weeding, bed prepping, greenhouse work, harvesting, washing and packing, pest and fertility management, CSA and retail administration, and record keeping. This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to continue their farming education and learn all aspects of managing a small farm business.
Experience is preferred, but additional training would be considered should the right candidate demonstrate the willingness to work and competency of necessary skills. Eager candidates that do not meet the qualifications or are seeking a different schedule are still encouraged to apply.

Time Commitment
- 24-32 hours / week (2-3 8 hour days)
- Job will run from April or May - October
Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in organic agriculture
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills - willingness to ask questions, express concerns, and accept and deliver constructive feedback
- Must carry health insurance
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions (cold, wind, rain, heat, humidity)
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds
- Efficiency oriented
Preferred Experience
- 2+ seasons experience on a similar sized vegetable farm strongly preferred
- Educational or training background in agriculture, horticulture, or related field
- General understanding of permanent raised bed/ no till market garden techniques
- General understanding of produce varieties, quality, harvest window, and bunch sizes
- Experience using basic tools such as weed whacker, brush hog, various cultivating hoes, broadfork, tilther, earthway seeder, and silage tarps
- Experience installing irrigation systems including drip tape and sprinklers
- Understanding of hothouse crop pruning and trellising techniques (tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cucumbers)

- Compensation is hourly and commensurate with experience $15+
- All the “farm seconds” that you can eat
- Discount on all farmstand items
