Farm production worker
We are hiring now for 2022 Production Workers.
We are seeking an individual with multiple years of farming experience.
We are looking for folks to join our team who are used to lifting heavy things and working quickly. Candidates should be available from 7 am to early afternoon, 6 days per week. (We take Saturdays off). We are looking for someone with a few years of farming or other physical job-related experience.
Candidates should be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and be able to lift 50+lbs
Wild Woods Farm (www.wildwoodscsa.com) is seeking candidates to work for the 2022 growing season. Wild Woods is a CSA-centered vegetable farm following organic practices. The position can begin as soon as mid-March or early April.
Work after mid-august is possible depending on-farm needs and worker availability. Responsibilities include involvement in all aspects of our diverse farm operation with an emphasis on vegetable production: weeding, planting, harvesting, soil preparation, pest management, and irrigation.
Desired Skills: To be successful at this job you must be hardworking and dependable. You must have a fun-loving attitude and the ability to work with a diverse group of people. You must be an energetic and efficient worker. You must be able to work outside in summer conditions. You must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Hours: Monday through Friday (generally 7:00am-2:30pm), Sundays morning or afternoon depending on the season, and one Saturday per month. Mondays and Thursdays are delivery days and may require more hours than other weekdays, especially if you are assigned a CSA drop site. (we are generally looking for full-time workers but could consider part-time depending on the circumstance of the particular summer and the needs of the farm).
Housing/Transportation: Must have own transportation. We do not provide housing but there is ample housing available in the surrounding communities.
Meals: Workers are responsible for their own snacks and meals. Farm vegetables are always available for use.
Opportunities for learning include:
Vegetable production, harvest, and post-harvest handling. (Includes growing our own transplants and hoop house production.)
If interested in becoming a farmer, possibilities for mentorship exist consistent with the worker’s individual goals.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $15.00 - $15.00
