Company description
Root Down Farm is a diversified vegetable, herb, and flower farm serving greater Buffalo, NY. Using sustainable agriculture methods, we grow for a 300 member CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) as well as several other wholesale accounts. We are located in Clarence Center on farm land protected from development by the WNY Land Conservancy. We are entering our 12th CSA season and looking for one more person to help round out our farm crew for 2022.
Job description
Farm Crew Members are involved in multiple aspects of the farm including transplanting, harvesting, irrigation and pest management, cultivating, and washing and packing produce. There is also greenhouse and high tunnel work including seeding, watering, trellising and bed prep. If you have interest in or experience with tractors, then you would also be helping with field prep, bed forming, and cover cropping if you want.
The start and end date for this position is flexible starting as early as April 1st or as late as June. Work week is Monday-Friday with half days on Saturday for those who prefer (schedules are flexible); pay starts at $15/hr and is higher with experience. Full or part time available. We are looking for dedicated people willing to work hard and work well with a small crew of people. We love farming and like to enjoy our jobs as we are doing them, so a good sense of humor is a qualification for the position. Previous farm or related experience is preferred, but not necessary. Remember we work outside so you must be able to work in all weather conditions. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the farm are required.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
