The Village Farm at Stanley program is an urban farm dedicated to increasing access to fresh and culturally relevant produce while serving as a gathering space for cultural exchange, education, and celebration. Job description
Manage and develop an urban farm in it's 3rd season. Work with a diverse community to support food justice, educational programming for youth and adults, and being a hub for gathering, celebration, and cultural exchange. Work with an amazing team, learn lots, and help shape/develop an urban farm finding it's niche in the local food system.
The Village Farm at Stanley Program Manager has the following duties and responsibilities:
• Manage all Village Farm employees, volunteers, and contractors.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Village Farm relying on practices that regenerate the health of the land and local environment.
• Oversee execution of all farm operations including crop/field planning, pre-season purchases and preseason preparation in coordination with Farm Production Manager.
• Design formal and informal educational opportunities for adults at the Village Farm, including developing the curriculum for such educational programs and recruiting instructors and participants for such programs.
• In collaboration with the Senior Manager of Youth Education and Empowerment, design and implement educational opportunities for youth.
• Plan and oversee educational opportunities for the general public and stakeholders to learn about sustainable agriculture, refugee issues, food systems, generally, and Village Farm activities.
• In coordination with the Senior Manager of Health Equity and Food Security and the Senior Manager of Development, maintain and grow partnerships with stakeholders.
• Responsible for the understanding and execution of all Village Farm grants and deliverables.
• Work on budget-related matters as requested by the Senior Manager of Health Equity and Food Security.
• Assist with the collection of data to optimize operations of the Village Farm to ensure that its operation meets the needs of the community VEC serves.
• Oversee the recruitment of volunteers that are needed for the Village Farm operations.
• Assist in fundraising events and activities and grant writing as related to the Village Farm.
• Exemplify and hold accountable others to VEC’s values.
• Collaborate across VEC programs and departments.
• Work with VEC communications and marketing teams to tell the story of the Village Farm utilizing social media, and other marketing strategies to build support and community
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $50,000 - $75,000
