Research Project Manager (Part-Time/Contract)
Food for Climate League is a trailblazing, women-led 501c3 research collaborative, founded with seed funding from the Food@Google team, working to democratize sustainable eating in order to build an equitable, nourishing, climate-smart food culture for all. As a world expert in food and climate communications, FCL researches, tests, and implements food and climate narratives that speak to the many, not the few, in order to make climate-smart eating the norm and nourish human and planetary wellbeing.
Under the direction of the Director of Research, the Project Manager will plan and implement specified projects, particularly new research projects, and keep them on schedule from start to completion date.
The ideal candidate will have: (i) expertise in project management ideally in a culinary environment; (ii) strong communication skills; (iii) strong organizational and interpersonal skills; (iv) knowledge of—and experience with—food, agriculture, and/or climate funders and/or issues; and (v) interest in engaging audiences often ignored by traditional sustainability campaigns and brands, including people of color, and those belonging to rural, low-income, and indigenous communities, who could play a critical role in the sustainable eating movement.
Role and responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage the GANTT, coordinate all deliverables and tasks in Asana
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks with overlapping deadlines
- Report and escalate to management as needed
- Manage the relationship with the client and relevant stakeholders
- Manage projects to strategies, budgets, and timelines
- Keep the project team on track for upcoming milestones
- Manage regular team calls
- Lead weekly reporting to the team
- Lead monthly reporting via newsletter to client
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Use and continually develop leadership skills
Research
- Review interview guidelines and analysis
- Support survey question development and survey building
- Lead focus group coordination, recruit participants and report updates
- Lead interview coordination
- Lead final report coordination and assist with the development
- Provide input to dissemination plan
- Support final package development
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited college or university;
- Proven project management experience;
- Familiarity with project management software and technologies (such as Asana);
- The ability to work independently to solve problems;
- Knowledge of (or willingness to educate oneself on) food systems issues, and the connection between food, agriculture, and the climate crisis;
- Passionate about engaging diverse (Black and POC) audiences in the climate-smart food movement;
- Ability to work independently to manage one’s time and meet deadlines; and
- Commitment to working collaboratively with a small team of motivated individuals.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 years of highly relevant, full-time work experience;
- Maturity, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment;
- Ability to parse through data and translate findings;
- Strong understanding of food systems issues and interest in food systems change; and
- Excitement about building a sustainable, equitable, and healthy future for people and the planet.
Start Date: April 2022
Time Commitment: April to December 2022
Salary: $40-60/hour
Location: Virtual
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Benefits: All federal holidays off, Flexible additional time off (vacation, sick, personal, maternity) with manager approval.
