We are a small and rapidly growing team helping over 7,000 chefs and culinary professionals around the world.
This is a terrific opportunity for culinary professionals looking for meaningful work outside the kitchen. Put your restaurant, catering, prepared foods, meal-kit, R&D or other kitchen experience to work helping chefs run better businesses.
This full-time, independent contractor position involves working remotely to input our customers’ recipes into their meez database.
Chefs trust us with their recipes, and our team is dedicated to helping them turn those recipes into more powerful tools for managing their team and their food costs.
We don’t expect you to know everything there is to know about reading and writing recipes, but we do hope you are a critical thinker with a solid understanding of cooking methods, terms, ingredients and culinary math.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and understand recipes in a variety of formats, containing a wide variety of ingredients, techniques and terminology.
- Become confident using all aspects of the meez platform to upload, organize, view, edit, share and analyze recipes and ingredients.
- Upload recipes for customers following the meez recipe implementation process, while maintaining our strict confidentiality and intellectual property protocols.
- Identify and articulate issues with recipes and ingredients that affect cost calculations, scaling, yield and nutritional content.
- Communicate with the support and success team to help resolve issues in the application, including maintaining our ingredient database, documenting software issues and identifying ways to improve the recipe upload process.
Must Haves:
- At least two years of professional kitchen experience working with recipes in the following ways: cooking, documenting production and yield, writing, editing, and calculating costs (or one year of experience in addition to a culinary or hospitality diploma or degree).
- The ability to work remotely, including your own secure computer, a reliable internet connection, a workspace suitable for video conferencing, and availability for online meetings and other communications during regular business hours.
- Must be very detail-oriented and able to follow written, spoken and visual directions.
- The ability to communicate and problem solve through written and verbal exchanges.
- A willingness to receive feedback and use it to improve your skills and performance.
- Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, Word, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, Gmail and Google Drive.
