Job description

The Food Access Program works to ensure all Montanans have access to healthy and local food through targeted nutrition incentive programs. Our flagship program, the Double SNAP Dollars Program, doubles the purchasing power of SNAP benefits at 32 locations in Montana, including  farmers markets, farm stands and CSA programs, food box programs, and retail grocery stores. For every dollar spent on SNAP-eligible foods, SNAP recipients receive an extra dollar to spend on fresh, local produce. While this position will primarily focus on DSD, the Food Access Program has also grown to include coordination of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program with the Montana Dept. of Public Health and Human Services, as well as a statewide Produce Prescription program. The Program Coordinator will primarily focus on Double SNAP Dollars, but will provide support to other staff in coordinating all Food Access programs.

 

This is a full-time staff position that will be an integral part of CFAC’s food access program team, with a starting salary of $38,500, 40 hours per week. The Double SNAP Dollars Program Coordinator provides Network-wide support for technical assistance, data tracking, reporting, and evaluation.  They also act as a Regional Coordinator for direct project implementation with 14 partners in Western Montana.

Regional Coordination Responsibilities (60%)

  • Oversee coordination of Double SNAP Dollars at 14 Western Montana sites (Western Montana Spoke; sites include farmers markets, farmstands, CSAs, and grocery store partners)
  • Lead trainings for site staff in program logistics, market scrip (usually tokens), incentive distribution and redemption systems, EBT POS technology, and data collection and reporting.
  • Support expansion of DSD to new market partners that are BIPOC owned and/or providing culturally specific services. Contribute to CFAC’s DEI planning and build relationships with community organizations to support partnership with historically underserved communities.
  • Collaborate across CFAC’s central food access programs: Double SNAP Dollars, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and Produce Prescription Project.
  • Facilitate the Western Montana Food Access Committee, a coalition of local organizations fighting hunger through innovative local food strategies.

DSD Network Responsibilities (25%)

  • Provide Technical Assistance (TA) to partners of varying sizes during different stages of program implementation. TA includes market scrip (tokens), EBT POS technology, data collection and reporting requirements, and program evaluation.
  • Participate in CFAC’s Hub & Spoke program model and build relationships with other Regional Coordinators.
  • Act as point of contact for monthly data collection and reimbursement requests from local and regional partners, including regional coordinators. Ensure reports are submitted on time and reviewed for accuracy. 
  • Collaborate with Montana State University’s Buy Eat Live Better SNAP-Ed and EFNEP Nutrition Education program for incentive distribution for nutrition classes.

Other Program Responsibilities (15%)

  • Collaborate with CFAC’s other Food Access Programs and partners to develop a robust nutrition education program and resources for use across program areas. Provide support for program partners for implementation of nutrition education resources.
  • Collaborate with CFAC’s Beginning Farmer & Rancher and Land Use Programs when appropriate
  • Support CFAC Marketing Team in development and distribution of program outreach materials. This includes content planning, creation, and distribution to partners and Western Montana community.
  • Distribute and collect program evaluations and ensure programs follow grant requirements.
  • Contribute to CFAC’s internal communications platforms on Slack, Salesforce, Trello, Dropbox, and Google Drive.

  • Ability to follow directions, work independently and collaboratively
  • Basic knowledge of local agriculture and food systems
  • Understanding of and support for CFAC’s vision of a local food & agriculture system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Event planning and implementation experience preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Google Suite and ability to quickly learn new computer skills.  Salesforce experience a plus
