The primary tasks of this position include packing local grocery orders, taking inventory, delivering packed retail bags to residences, delivering wholesale orders to food businesses/institutions, and picking up freshly-harvested product on our farm pickup routes.

 

We’re looking to add someone to our team who will be an integral part of our operations, as well as own and improve our systems along the way. Warehouse Duties  -------------------------------------------------------------------

The core responsibilities at the warehouse are packing 50+ orders per day in a walk-in cooler (over the course of 4-5 hours), taking an accurate and detailed inventory of products, portioning produce items into retail sizing, and keeping the warehouse clean. You must be able to use and read a scale and do basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Other responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing the warehouse & prep areas and completing other related tasks to maintain the flow of our warehouse operations. 
 

Driving Duties  --------------------------------------------------------------

As a driver, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that the correct product gets to the correct place in the appropriate time window, and in great condition. Driving duties may include retail grocery deliveries (to homes, apartments, houseboats, etc), wholesale deliveries (to restaurants, preschools, food businesses, etc), and/or farm pickup routes (driving to our farm aggregation locations, picking up freshly-harvested products, and bringing them back to our Seattle warehouse). Farm pickups and customer deliveries normally occur within the Greater Seattle area and will be done in company vehicles that are larger “sprinter” vans. 
 

When delivering to customers, you will be the main liaison between our brand (both retail and wholesale outlets) and the customer to ensure that they are being served well and that any necessary communication is passed along to the right person(s). You will be expected to deliver up to 65 residential grocery orders, or complete up to 7 hours of wholesale deliveries, whether rain, snow, or shine.
 

Qualifications Required  -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Comfortable working in a cold environment (38 degrees)
  • A valid driver's license 
  • Ability to drive a 15-passenger van in all types of weather conditions (e.g. rain, snow, sleet) and a willingness to learn to drive longer vehicles (i.e. 20'-25' vans and box truck)
  • Ability to work standing for 6+ hours
  • Ability to walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and kneel 
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Cell phone with data plan and understanding of Google Maps
  • Read, write, and speak English
 

Preferred

  • Food handler’s safety certification (appx $15 two-hour online course)
  • Familiarity with a warehouse environment
  • Driven for at least 5 years (doesn’t have to be commercial)
  • Familiarity with local food and produce varieties
  • Familiarity driving a 16ft box truck

Schedule   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • 35-40 hours a week Monday - Friday
  • Most likely have 2-3 x 9 hours days and 1-2 less than 8 hour days. TBD.

  • Deliveries will be made using company vehicles
  • Starting pay is $20/hr with raises, reliability, performance, and tenure 
  • $300/mo health expense reimbursement via a QSHERA starting your first-day
  • Sharing online customer tips across the ops team (~$1/hr) once a month
