Company description
History:
Since 1953, the Williamson family has owned and operated a 200+ acre farm as the city of Murfreesboro, Tennessee has grown around it. The farm, started by Toni Turner and Mark Williamson’s parents, was primarily a dairy farm with commodity crops raised as well.
In 1988, like many small family farms, the farming operations ceased and yet Toni and Mark never developed the property into a subdivision, a common occurrence with other farms for miles in every direction.
In 2016, as a means of revenue generation, the family started renting the barn and other buildings for events. They also began a UPick operation in the summertime.
In 2020, after the facility had been operating as an event center and Upick farm, Toni and Mark took substantial steps to better develop their parents’ legacy and the vision of preserving the heritage of the area - a heritage that was at one time a farming community, and is now a suburb of Nashville.
The Future:
The Williamson Family Farm is a living, working farm offering leisure and Authentic Tennessee™ experiences utilizing diverse events and activities. It marries small farm heritage with emerging farm practices that showcase how small farms can thrive into the future. In addition, it incorporates sustainability, including in its farming practices the use of solar energy.
