Nina Schnall is an ovarian cancer survivor, in one year of remission. She is a kind-hearted client in need of weekly meal drop offs to her home in Montclair/ Oakland to adhere to a low-glycemic, pescatarian diet catered to the prevention of cancer reoccurrence.
She seeks a cook who is personable, committed to local sourcing, able to offer creative and nutrient dense meals that adhere to her diet, and ideally experienced in in-home cooking services with either 1-2 years of restaurant experience or a background in nutrition-based cooking being preferred.
Job description
Prepare meal kits for a once weekly drop off to an Oakland, CA residence, for client Nina Schnall. Meal kits include on average 5-6 items with one pescatarian entrée, one vegetarian entrée, a soup, a leafy green salad, a low-glycemic grain salad, and a vegetable side. Menus should change with the seasons based on local Bay Area produce availability and adhere strictly to guidelines dictated by Nina’s nutritionist.
Her diet is specific but not limiting. With an emphasis on dark leafy greens, and an avoidance of dairy, she can have specific lower-glycemic grains, most vegetables, most legumes, all fish, and poultry stock. Creativity encouraged.
Previous menu items and a more detailed dietary list would be provided to seriously interested candidates.
Must be able to create weekly menus, shop for ingredients, prepare food in your own kitchen, label all meal kits (sauces etc) and write up menu description and any necessary instructions, as well as deliver to client’s home.
Job consists of one 8-hour workday, once weekly. Hours include shopping, prepping, and drop off, with preferred delivery on Monday afternoons.
Services are billed directly to client for $50/hour plus cost of ingredients.
