OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a produce-focused market in Philadelphia

The Prep Foods Kitchen Staff position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of the Prepared Foods operation. They are responsible for the preparation, packaging, and delivery of Riverwards- branded food products and value-added products. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space. They will communicate frequently with market staff to ensure proper inventory practices are followed.

Reports to: Production Manager

Daily Responsibilities:

• Prepare salads, sandwiches, dips, and other Riverwards house branded food products
• Package food products
• Cut and wrap cheese
• Deliver food to the Riverwards market and transport orders back to the commissary space
• Take inventory in the market and communicate need to the Prepared Foods Manager
• Work with market Grocery staff and Cashiers to ensure proper Prep Foods storage and rotation
• Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space
• Take ownership of receiving deliveries when they arrive and keep a friendly rapport with delivery people
• Ensures delivery invoices are notated correctly and promptly submitted
• Maintain a well-stocked and aesthetically pleasing Prepared Foods case in the market
• Complete all opening and closing procedures

Requirements

• Experience working in the kitchen for a bar, restaurant, or caterer
• Clean and organized when working in a kitchen setting
• A diligent approach to safety and sanitation. ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing
• A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
• Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
• Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business

COMPENSATION: This position is hourly. Compensation is dependent upon experience. Riverwards Produce provides a generous employee discount on all store products, paid parental leave, opportunities for career growth, and flexible scheduling.
