Trader Joe's is unlike any place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. The qualified candidate has at least 7 to 10 years of relevant work experience and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, California.
The Product Developer is charged with hunting for items on the "Shopping Lists" as assigned by the VP of Product Development. The Product Developer consults with Category Managers and others in the Merchandising Department, performs research on potential solutions and may travel to find great products that will round out our selection and bring the Category Visions to life. The Product Developer coordinates the activities regarding "the hunt" with the VP of Product Development. This role will provide all information, documentation and coordination to panel the product.
The Product Developer & is responsible for:
- Actively diversifying vendor base and develops broker-free relationships.
- Working with the VP of Product Development to achieve sales, margin and new product goals.
- Developing successful products that fill Shopping List needs assigned by the VP.
- Working on quality issues and product reformulations as assigned by the VP.
- Working collaboratively with Category Managers and other departments. Eliminates bureaucracy with effective and inclusive communication. Bringing products to market in a timely fashion.
The qualified professional is:
- A strong negotiator.
- Has a laser sharp focus on delivering Value (Quality and Price) to stores.
- Is an expert in Category trends and seasonality.
- Demonstrates integrity in dealings with vendors while understanding their allegiance is to Trader Joe's customers.
- Able to travel as needed to bring Category Visions to life.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
