Job description

We're looking for an experienced, safe driver to carefully delivery bulk orders of fresh ingredients to locations throughout the city. This part-time job is perfect for anyone looking for extra hours to fill out their week and is a great way to get hands-on with in the local food system in NYC. Other positions within the company may be come available to interested and experienced candidates.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, transport, and deliver boxes of perishable ingredients to residences across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens
• Communicate clearly with the Local Roots team regarding all updates

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• A clean driving record with experience driving in NYC
• The ability to routinely lift and carry 50lb+ boxes
• Ability to safely park vehicles
• Self-starter, team player
• Can work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Warehouse, grocery, or delivery experience preferred
• Attention to detail
• Punctual, reliable, calm, and able to adapt to changes
• Able to follow directions and execute tasks accordingly
• Access to a smart phone with GPS navigation and the ability to download our routing app

Compensation

This position is paid $20/hour. You will drive the Local Roots van (Ford Transit Connect) to complete all deliveries.

Car Maintenance and Liability

You will be responsible for filling the van with gas when needed and completing weekly vacuuming of the car. If any damages are made to the van during your shift, you must alert the Local Roots Team immediately and follow proper procedures for ensuring that any additional individuals involved in damages to the car are held accountable via the exchange of insurance details. The Local Roots van will be available for pick up in the Greenpoint neighborhood.

Location & Hours

Our warehouse is located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

After picking up bulk deliveries of perishable ingredients at the warehouse here, deliveries will be made throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Available Shifts, usually up to 4 hours per shift (timelines below are subject to change)

Tuesdays: 1pm - 4:30pm

Wednesdays: 1pm - 4pm

Thursdays: 11:30am - 4pm

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
