Minifactory (cafe & grocery) homes V Smiley Preserves (jam company) in downtown Bristol, Vermont. This hybrid restaurant, grocery and production model hums with daily activity. 16 Main St (our location) has operated continuously as a bakery/cafe for over 4 decades.
V Smiley Preserves makes honey sweetened preserves. We specialize in intricate textured flavors, making no-added pectin preserves, investing in our local foodshed, and supporting organic growing practices. V Smiley Preserves is the country’s only nationally available honey sweetened preserve company. We have created a new category of preserving within small batch canning, discovering all that is possible with just fruit and honey. The company took home Good Food Awards in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
In 2021, V Smiley Preserves purchased the Bristol Cliffs Cafe at 16 Main St. In March 2022, this space reopened as Minifactory. Minifactory is a coffee shop, eatery and retail location for specialty grocery and local produce. The kitchen of Minifactory homes V Smiley Preserves production and Minifactory food operations.
Bristol Vermont is located in Addison County. The area is agricultural and adjacent to the mountain communities of Lincoln and Starksboro. We are a 40 minute drive to Burlington, 25 minutes to Middlebury.
Job description
Position Overview
- Co-cook Friday/Saturday suppers at Minifactory with V Smiley
- Physically switch the cooking line from our All Day menu to Evening Menu
- Shuck oysters Friday & Saturday night
- Hang out with lots of local produce
- Produce super flavorful, seasonal food
- Check in orders and keep food storage organized
- Assist with kitchen care and cleaning

You report to: V Smiley
Workday: Thursdays, assist with prep approx.9 am – 5 pm. Friday/Saturday Noon-8 pm. Could stretch to more days if you want to work more. Minimum 24 hours / week. Position could expand to 36 hours / week. Down the road (thinking during Vermont’s deep and quiet winter), we’d love to explore a weekly take-home menu to offer our community.

Compensation
- Wage of $19-22/hour including base wage & tips ($15+ base wage DOE)
- Two weeks paid time off for folks averaging 32 hrs/week
