Company description
Newlight Breadworks is a super-premium bread producer based in the Hamptons, NY. Embracing a better-for-you approach, Newlight uses simple ingredients with an emphasis on process, quality, and long fermentation.
Newlight Breadworks was founded in April 2020 at the height of the pandemic in a home kitchen in Water Mill, NY. Production quickly grew into the Stony Brook food incubators nearby. CEO Stephen Robinson sought to embrace the sourdough renaissance, and began selling single loaves at Babinski Farmstand on Newlight Lane. Robinson had learned the art of sourdough in his youth from his mother, an avid bread baker. He received his now 20-year-old starter from his mother, which was developed over time in their family home near Seattle, WA.
Over the past 2 years, Robinson, alongside Head Baker Carlos Barbosa and Vice President of Operations Ren Crook, built the East End's premier bread brand. Today, Newlight Breasworks services top restaurants, retailers, farms and farmers markets across the Hamptons and NYC, including Jean-Georges' Topping Rose House, Nick & Toni's, and PUBLIC Hotel.
Newlight Breadworks is a mission-driven business, which donates fresh bread weekly to the Montauk Food Pantry and Springs Food Pantry to help those on the East End facing food insecurity. Newlight Breadworks has also contributed to East End community initiatives hosted by Green Beetz, the Children's Museum of the East End, and Southampton Fresh Air Home. Newight Breadworks is truly “Hamptons Born & Bread.”™
