The Flour District is a new bakery in Lynchburg, Va specializing in European style croissants and pastries. We value quality ingredients and source locally grown grains and freshly milled flours to incorporate into our bakes. We are currently baking and popping up across Lynchburg but moving into a proper brick & mortar shop on Bedford Avenue in 2023.

Job description

We are seeking a strong leader to manage the operation of the coffee, retail, and service side of The Flour District. This position is responsible for developing a reliable front of house team that practices excellent customer service and, ultimately, builds The Flour District brand. Our ideal candidate has several years of experience working in a coffee shop or restaurant setting, preferably with some time spent in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Bakery Manager
• Set and maintain and employee shift schedule
• Train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment
• Coordinate with Bakery Manager & outside vendors to order supplies, as needed
• Suggest and add new drink menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences, with General Manager’s approval
• Facilite a positive, team-oriented environment
• Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with customers and deliver excellent customer service
• Ensure all areas are clean and tidy
• Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Several years of restaurant/coffee shop experience
• Supervisory experience
• Strong leadership, management, and communication skills
• Positive attitude
