Company description
Harvest Against Hunger, a program of Rotary District 5030, is a small but mighty 501c3 nonprofit based in Seattle. Connecting farmers, truckers, volunteers, and communities, we work at the intersection of healthy food access, food waste & recovery, and supporting local farms around Washington state.
"Core Work"
We work with large-scale agricultural partners to find truckload-sized donations of healthy fruits and vegetables to distribute to partner agencies. Next, we connect with local trucking companies, trucking schools and others to arrange donated trucking to delivery the produce to our hunger relief partners.
Farm to Community Program
F2C encompasses multiple projects in Washington State that follow the shared model of providing funding for food assistance organizations to purchase produce and other fresh food directly from local small-scale farms, operating across different scales, partners, and funding sources.
Harvest VISTA
Our Harvest VISTA program acts as an incubator and catalyst, utilizing a team of AmeriCorps members with the VISTA program embedded in local food system organizations across the country to serve marginalized communities. At their host sites, Harvest VISTA members build and strengthen capacity for gleaning and produce recovery, as well as for local food systems.
