Job description
The Neighborhood Farmers Markets (NFM) has an immediate opening for at the University District Farmers Market, which runs every Saturday year-round. Positions at our seasonal and year-round markets will be opening soon, so please apply today! Market staff are responsible for maintaining and supporting onsite, weekly market operations to ensure a safe, welcoming, and thriving farmers market environment. MAIN JOB DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS
- Set up and tear down equipment, street closures, crowd and traffic management.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the NFM’s overarching mission, be able to effectively communicate this to the public and consistently represent it within the work environment.
- Provide outstanding customer service to our shoppers, vendors, and community partners.
- Help feed the community by administering the various food access programs available to Seattle residents.
- Enforce NFM market policies and check that vendors are complying with the laws and regulations of relevant agencies such as the WSDA and Seattle / King County Health Department.
- Learn the ins and outs of operating the NFM van to assist with equipment transfer and market setup.
- Team player who promotes collaboration and a positive work environment.
- Eagerness to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to NFM’s mission of expanding access to fresh, local food for Seattle residents.
- Detail-oriented and adept multi-tasker who can think on the fly.
- Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and work outside in all kinds of weather.
- Current or able to obtain King County Health Department Food Handlers Permit.
- Applicants for the van driver position must have a valid driver’s license and comfort operating large vehicles.
- As a condition of employment and continued employment, NFM requires that all employees, including temporary employees, part-time, full-time, and per diem employees, receive a COVID-19 vaccination(s) once authorized by the FDA and available.
Highlight Additional Skills like: Fix It/DYI mentality, community engagement/activism, fluency in a second language, farm operations, event production, children’s activities, grocery experience, bookkeeping, etc.
Compensation: $18.50 per hour. All NFM staff are eligible for a $75 annual clothing allowance.

Compensation
