Matriark Foods, Sales Support Specialist

Matriark makes delicious, healthy, versatile food products from upcycled farm surplus and fresh-cut remnants, diverting waste from landfill while producing the healthy food we all need.
Matriark is seeking a highly energetic, organized, and motivated Sales Support Specialist (SSS) to support retail and foodservice sales, outreach, research, social media, and general office duties. You care deeply about the job at hand and are willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. You have an entrepreneurial spirit, and you want to do everything you can to accelerate the transition to climate-friendly food. The Matriark SSS understands that we have 7 growing seasons to reach the UNSDG 2030 goals on food waste and hunger and that there’s no time, or food to waste. The Matriark SSS uses their intelligence, collaborative skills, communication skills, and grit to get the job done. This is an in-person, in-office job (with some remote work and some travel) in New York City.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the VP of Sales (who is remote), and the CEO (in office) the Matriark SSS supports all work relating to meeting company sales goals including outreach, inventory management, demos, and social media. This is a fast-paced position with a small and driven team where ideas are welcome and growth is expected.
Responsibilities
- Lead generation within targeted food service segments.
- Cold customer outreach with transition to warm leads for sales conversion. Clearly document all activities and feedback.
- Schedule, coordinate, and execute in-store demos with key retailers, primarily in New York City.
- Create and implement consistent demo program management including standard demo kit, standard demo report, and aggregated demo summary.
- Manage customer sample process from initial request through delivery.
- Own Matriark food service and retail trade show calendar. Manage all prep and execution associated with each event.
- Works with CEO and Marketing to manage digital outreach.
- Develop and maintain sales & inventory dashboard; generate weekly flash reports
- Develop and maintain operational calendar
- Support VP of sales in meeting sales goals
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years sales experience in CPG or foodservice
- Executional excellence: You have the organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, high sense of responsibility, and generalist skill set to take on a wide range of tasks.
- Executive level communication skills: Your written, visual, and verbal communication is compelling and precise. Proficiency with Google Suite, MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word (or equivalent). Proficiency with organizational software (monday; asana; clickup)
- Mission Orientation: You have a demonstrated commitment to Matriark’s Mission, Vision, and Principles and/or have a history of actively contributing to the causes or communities that you care about.
- Ambitious Yet Humble: You believe that no job is too big or too small for you to undertake. You are eager to grow as a professional, and you channel those qualities to add value for the business.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
