Job description
The Co-farm manager will coordinate/assist in all aspects of seed and vegetable production on the farm of Seed Peace in Carbondale, CO. The manager should have experience in vegetable production with a general understanding and/or eagerness to learn seed production and breeding. The manager will co-coordinate a crew of four apprentices and will engage the team in supplying farmers markets and wholesale accounts keeping good records and keeping the farm performing at a high level.The ideal candidate is "Handy" and has an engineering/systems mind. General knowledge of mechanics and general building skills is a huge plus and is ideal for this position. Knowledge of irrigation, tractor operation, fence building, nursery management, greenhouse and hoop house management are a plus but are second to a "fix it all" skill set. Most important to the position is an enthusiasm for farming that puts the farms performance as a top priority in the candidates life. The co-farm manager will work directly with Nick our current farm manger and Casey the ag director to develop and refine crop plans, set seasonal goals for vegetable and seed production, while also working hand in hand with our BOD and fundraising manager to move the organization forward to accomplishing the mission! An ideal candidate is organized, a great communicator, has enthusiasm for "the farm life", is a problem solver, enjoys innovating and refining systems, is up to any task needed for the success of the farm, enjoys writing and telling the organizations story, has compassion for all involved and embodies enthusiasm for their work and sharing with others.
