We are a farmstead sheep dairy producing award-winning cheeses and yogurt, as well as whey-fed pork, lamb, and eggs. We primarily market our products through local farmers markets and to a number of gourmet and specialty shops and restaurants. We milk 80 ewes on our 40 acre farm in Northern Monterey county.
We are looking for a full-time cheesemaker/dairy worker to assist the owner/head cheesemaker with producing aged and fresh sheep cheeses as well as sheep yogurt and yogurt popsicles. Responsibilities to include the manufacture and aging of cheeses as well as 1 to 2 farmers markets per week, cutting and wrapping cheese for farmers markets, and packaging yogurt. Previous cheesemaking experience a plus but not required. Dairy work includes a lot of washing and cleaning, as well as physical work. Should be able to lift 50 lbs, and have a strong attention to detail. Must be able to work weekends. Possible on-farm housing.
Clean driving record and valid license are required for insurance purposes (driving company cars is a requirement of the position).
We maintain a strict non-smoking environment (including pot), and cannot accommodate smoking in any form.
