Company description Flynn Creek Farm is returning to the practice of regenerative agriculture in an effort to repair the soil and produce the most nutrient dense food possible. Accessible to the public at reasonable prices, our veggies and crops are grown by career farmers with a passion for revisioning America’s food system. Flynn Creek Farm is a regenerative certified organic farming operation in its first phase of development. This will be a unique opportunity to see the ins and outs of how a farming operation will be set up from virtually a blank slate. The produce side of the operation will be the primary focus for the 2023 season as we begin to implement the plans for the entire farming operation. Our produce will be sold primarily through a single large wholesale account. Flynn Creek Farm is seeking a skilled crew member to join our new farming operation that is eager to learn, has a great work ethic, positive attitude, and strong dedication to our mission who functions well in a fast-paced environment. Crew members will be involved in all aspects of the farm’s production including seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, packing wholesale orders, and any other farm maintenance needed while keeping a clean and organized working space. Throughout the season, crew members will work closely with farm managers and have ample opportunity for an in-depth look at organic farming processes that will be mostly produce focused, but will also get to learn how regenerative practices like livestock grazing, prairie restoration, on farm fertility programs, and more can be integrated into a produce operation.

This position will have the ability to learn the necessary skills to become a field crew lead, wash/pack shed lead, or become one of the managers in the future if desired. With the farm’s vision of being a multi-faceted operation, the opportunity to learn and grow with the farming operation is virtually endless.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fast, hands-on learner who takes instruction well, is not afraid to ask questions, and quickly applies lessons learned to their work.

  • Desire to learn and be a part of many to most aspects of the entire farming operation

  • Energetic person who understands deadlines and shows up on time with a positive attitude.

  • Active communicator who enjoys being part of a team, but is also comfortable working alone on projects.

  • Reliable, responsible, and self-motivated individual who is open to receiving feedback.

  • Individual with strong attention to detail, thorough observation skills, and ability to maintain consistent sizing standards while keeping efficiency in mind.

  • Strong communication skills among coworkers and managers

  • Selfless attitude - willing to help others even when not required / expected of you

  • Not afraid of long days of physical work in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds is required.

  • Previous farming experience is preferred, but is not required.
