Gedney Farm is located in the village of New Marlborough in the Berkshires. A premier wedding venue in the Northeast and 16-room hotel, we also have a small restaurant with a focus on seasonally inspired and locally sourced food. We serve dinner in our restaurant from March through December and host weddings every weekend from May through November. We are a small, friendly, hard-working team who work together to feed our guests day after day!
Job description
Gedney Farm is looking to hire a Baker's Assistant. Previous experience with pastries, bread, and ice cream is preferred. A respect for seasonal cooking and a love of fruit and vegetables is necessary! Everything is made from scratch and an emphasis is put on high-quality and local ingredients.
The Baker's Assistant will be responsible for making all doughs and batters for and baking breakfast pastries and granola, as well as setting up continental breakfast for our 16-room hotel. Other responsibilities will include making ice cream bases and churning ice creams and sorbets; making buttercream (Swiss meringue) and cream cheese frosting; making crackers; and assisting with other tasks for restaurant and wedding dessert prep as delegated by the Pastry Chef. Additional tasks might include baking cakes; making fruit crisps for rehearsal dinners; making and rolling pie dough and shortcrust; making various sauces and fillings; making and baking cookie doughs, brownies, and other confections; prepping fruits and vegetables; and baking pies. We are also planning to start a bread program so previous experience with bread is helpful though not required.
