Bee Hollow is Hiring Fulltime Beekeeper and Farmer – Year Round Position

Bee Hollow Farm is a sustainable Honey Bee and Elderberry Farm located near the border of Columbia and Rensselaer Counties in the town of Schodack.  We use only organic practices in our operation where we care for hundreds of honeybee colonies located on multiple farms in the Hudson Valley and Capital Region.  We also grow several acres of elderberries that we use to make value added products including elderberry syrup and elderberry creamed honey.  Our home farm is comprised of nearly 200-acres where we have horse boarders and much of the acreage is used by a local dairy for hay production.

Job description

Job duties include assisting on all aspects of managing honeybee colonies, (honeybee husbandry, hive splitting, rearing & marking queens, honey harvesting, honey bottling, hive building, etc.).  Also general farming duties include elderberry field work, fence repair, mowing and more.  Honey house duties including bottling, packing, product production, clean-up, etc.  Participation in farmer’s markets and dealing with the public as an Ambassador of Bee Hollow Farm is required.  Must be able to lift 50-lb regularly.

Each winter we conduct a 6-week on-line course” “Successfully Keeping Bees” which you would complete in order to lay the foundation for you to become a successful member of our team. 

Highlights of becoming a team member at Bee Hollow Farm include:

• Competitive salary depending on experience and on-going rewards based on contributions to the team. Starting pay of $18 if no experience
• Typically we work a 4-day (40hr) work week. Weeks when you work an additional day for a market you receive additional compensation as well as market sales bonuses
• At least 2 consecutive days off per week, but typically we try to set-up a “fixed” schedule that includes 3-consecutive days off on those weeks when you will not be part of a farmer’s market
