Job description
An exciting frozen food startup is seeking a part-time Head Chef to lead product development and launch and manage our production operations (out of a commissary kitchen in Camarillo).
Flexible schedule. Around 15 hours per week to start, with opportunity to ramp up to full time over the coming months. Looking for someone who can start ASAP.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Develop new recipes and refine existing recipes to incorporate customer & team feedback
- Lead batch production of frozen meals, including working on the line and managing team members
- Hire, train, and manage kitchen team
- Source & procure all supplies and ingredients, managing to budget provided
- Own relationship with commissary kitchen, including responsibility for storage
- Track and manage inventory
- Own maintenance of our equipment
Desired qualifications:
- Must be located in Santa Barbara or Los Angeles area
- Experience managing a production or catering kitchen is required
- Willing to get hands dirty -- able to lead a team and also work alongside the team as an individual contributor
- Experience developing and commercializing new recipes
- Must be able to follow direction & recipes, manage time well, be organized/clean, and have a positive attitude
- Experience with a variety of cuisines, styles, and dietary preferences, including produce-forward dishes
- Creative and receptive to feedback
- Ingredient-driven, sustainably minded
- Experience with frozen food a plus
- Some experience cooking for families a plus (including your own!)
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $30.00 - $60.00
