MPG Concepts is seeking a detail-oriented associate editor with a passion for food and cooking and an interest in all aspects of the editorial process to join our team. This is a great role for someone who is eager to learn, loves a challenge, and is brimming with ideas for telling impactful stories in fresh ways. This person will work closely with the content manager to brainstorm and produce print issues of Savory and Fresh magazines, as well as contribute to savoryonline.com.

This position is hybrid remote in NYC. Applicants must live within commuting distance of NYC and be willing to come into the office (located in lower Manhattan) as needed. No out-of-town applicants please.

Requirements

• 3-5 years editorial experience in food media, preferably for a print publication

• Solid writing, editing, copy editing, and reporting skills

• Ability to pitch, plan, and package food-centered stories

• Extremely organized and detail-oriented

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines

• InDesign experience a plus

• Microsoft office suite experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Participate in editorial brainstorms

• Assist with the planning and production of each issue

• Write occasional copy for Savory and Fresh

• Polish story layouts (input copy edits, recipes, nutrition information etc.)

• Work with the digital team to align print and digital content

• Manage image naming and meta tagging

• Respond to client requests as needed

• Additional production tasks as needed

Minimum salary of $58,500
