We are a small team that works together to provide warm, thoughtful service to our customers and community.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the General Manager with prioritization and delegation of daily tasks across all butchery operations
- Identifying opportunities to create value-added items, and partnering with the prepared foods team in successful execution of those items
- Teaching and training butcher team members
- Assisting the management team in maintaining the physical plant (appliances, tools, refrigeration, etc.)
- Engaging and assisting customers knowledgeably, with enthusiasm and generosity
- Working with shop team to set up / break down displays at opening / closing
- Tending the cash register as needed
Successful candidates will:
- Be knowledgeable about standard butchery techniques and protocols, and comfortable breaking down whole animals into case cuts
- Be available full time (40 hours over 5 days / week) with a willingness to work weekends and some holidays. Our earliest start time is 7:30am and our latest end time is 7:30pm.
- Have experience in professional kitchens and/or butchers and grocers
- Have the capacity to bring detail and care to their work while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Be friendly, organized, focused, energetic, and communicative
- Be excited about the working as part of a team to support the Marlow Collective's mission of promoting a local, equitable, and sustainable food system
While performing the duties of the job, the Butchery Supervisor is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
