The Pack Line Leader is responsible for overseeing the packing of all produce harvested on Stonefield Farm for both wholesale orders and distribution to food access partners. This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope and nature of the work. This is a full-time, seasonal position.

Expected Schedule

April – November: Average schedule of 40-50 hours/ week (Monday – Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm)

Benefits & Pay

Paid sick time, paid wellness days, paid holidays, cell phone stipend, gear reimbursement, retirement benefits, & seasonal produce. The pay range for this position is $21 - $24/ hour and overtime (1.5x hourly rate) is paid for time worked over 40 hours/ week.

Primary Responsibilities

Produce Washing and Packing

  • Oversee and lead the daily washing, sorting, and packing of produce harvested at Stonefield Farm

  • Set and maintain a packing pace that ensures timely completion of all orders

  • Ensure efficient packing processes using pack line equipment and packing space

  • Evaluate and maintain high product quality in collaboration with the Packing Team

  • Weekly understanding of upcoming harvests and orders to plan the packing schedule accordingly

  • Coordinate with Food Access Manager to schedule availability of pack line, wash station, and shared spaces

Equipment and Supply Management
  • Maintain an organized wash station and pack line

  • Plan time for daily preparation and box assembly

  • Keep packaging inventory stocked and anticipate packaging needs for future packs

  • Clean and sanitize wash station and pack line, including equipment, in compliance with BAG’s Food Safety 

    Plan

Additional Responsibilities

  • Safely operate power jacks, pump jacks and forklifts

  • Train seasonal staff on quality, washing, and packing

  • Assist our Operations and Farm Teams with a variety of needs

Skills
  • Basic Smart Phone competency

  • First Aid knowledge (training is provided)

  • Basic mechanical competency (training is provided)

  • Ability to operate pump and power jacks (training is providing)

  • Ability to operate a forklift (training is providing)

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience working on a pack line with a high level of efficiency; working with pack line equipment is a plus

  • Extensive knowledge of local fruit and vegetable varieties, produce quality, and proper storage conditions

  • Experience leading others and motivating them towards a common goal

  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively and be on your feet for most of the day

  • Ability to follow instructions and to clearly express ideas in a concise and professional manner

  • A fun, energetic, team-oriented attitude

  • Interest in sustainable farming and food systems is a plus
