2023 Estate Chef-in-Residence Opportunity
Immerse yourself in true farm to table cooking at a regenerative farm, inn and winery in Sonoma Valley. Wake up on the farm, collect eggs, harvest fresh fruits and vegetables from our organic garden, prepare your menu using ranch-grown olive oil, artisanal meats and cheeses to be paired with estate wines and served overlooking the heart of Sonoma Valley.
JOB TITLE: 2023 Estate Chef in Residence
EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT: Full time 40 hours / week, April-November 15th 2023 (flexible/apply now)
ON SITE RESIDENCE: Private furnished one bedroom one bath historic building, utilities included.
COMPENSATION: Housing + Monthly fee based on experience (starting at $42,988 for the full 8 months), tips, health insurance
POSITION SUMMARY
The Chef in Residence will be highlighted as the Estate Chef for the 2023 Season.
Every day is different: Preparing wine-pairing boards and dinners, special events, or breakfasts and lunches. The ranch is known for fresh, farm-to table food that celebrates ingredients. Menus are confirmed for some events, bring your creativity and draw inspiration from the garden, the ranch’s history, the wines and settings for the rest. Responsible for menu planning, ordering, prepping, preparing and keeping a clean, orderly and sanitary kitchen environment. Responsibilities include collecting eggs and preparing and preserving produce straight from the garden and orchard., Collaboration with our events, inn, service and garden team is essential. Positive attitudes only. This is a contract full-time position that requires flexibility of schedule and the ability to work extended schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays, often on short notice to ensure business-staffing needs are met. Variations will arise, but mostly a regular schedule of 8 hour shifts Wednesday-Sunday.
REQUIRED: Experience preparing elevated meals for 50+ guests at a time. Mentoring and assistance available for the right motivated candidate with less experience. Reliability. Self-motivated team-player. Excellent communication, problem-solving, positive attitude, interest in farming and gardening Commitment to sanitation. 21 years of age.
