This position will work in collaboration with our experienced team of farmers and field crew.
Responsibilities
• Read, understand and follow a planting plan for diverse 3 acre growing field.
• Greenhouse production: Assist in seeding, watering, and transplant starts.
• Harvesting: Follow daily harvest schedule and packing directions.
• Assist in washing weighing, recording and packing customer deliveries
• Monitoring crops for weeds, disease and insect pressure
• Soil preparation
• Customer relations and communication
Requirements
• 2 or more years previous experience working on small acre farm team
• Strong, resilient and healthy person.
• Ability to read, understand and follow directions.
• Self motivated adult with proven ability to produce excellent work independently and follow through on tasks.
• Fluent in English, Spanish a plus.
• Proven ability to work in and maintain a high standard of organization.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.
• Knowledgeable of mechanical equipment, preventative maintenance and proper use is extremely helpful.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of Irrigation systems: use and understanding of drip, overhead & hand water systems.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
• A positive, hardworking attitude.
• Must be self-motivated, well organized, with good communication skills.
• Must be able to endure a full growing season, long summer days outdoors, and fast paced farmers market.
• Basic knowledge of growing a wide variety of vegetables, including scouting for pests and disease
• Basic food safety knowledge
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised
• Ability to operate small machinery independently (weed wacker, mower, rototiller, etc.)
• Experience with greenhouse management and direct field seeding
• Able to receive and provide constructive feedback
• Able to do fast, quality, detailed production tasks like bunching, picking, seeding and
hand weeding
Compensation $17/hr
40 hours per week, ASAP-October
