Job description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Driver transports food from Zone 7 to customers safely and accurately using a refrigerated box truck or refrigerated van. This position reports to the Lead Driver and Facilities Manager. This is a full time position with opportunities for overtime. Some week-to-week schedule fluctuation can be anticipated due to the seasonal nature of the business.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safely operate a box truck or van to make product pickups from farms and deliveries to customers in a friendly, timely fashion.

Communicate issues or discrepancies with pickups or deliveries promptly to the appropriate party.

Maintain truck temperature logs and other paperwork required by Zone 7’s food safety plan.

Maintain a clean vehicle and perform basic equipment checks daily.

Load and unload product between the truck and the warehouse.

Utilize WorkWave technology to check in and out of stops for route tracking and analysis by the Director of Operations.

SCHEDULE:

Monday - Friday, approximately 5:00 am-3:00 pm. Very occasional weekend availability needed. Salary range $18-$20/hour, overtime available most weeks and paid at 1.5x hourly rate.  The job will begin as part-time and move to a full time position.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other related assignments as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:

Education

High School education or equivalent experience.

Experience

One to two years of experience driving a commercial truck. Ability to operate various vehicle types (Sprinter vans, up to 10 pallet capacity box trucks with refer) in various locations, including in cities and rural areas. Although not required, experience in the produce, farming or grocery industry is a plus.

KEY COMPETENCIES: Interpersonal, communication and basic truck maintenance skills. Good work ethic and team player. In possession of a good, clean driving record. Able to lift, carry and push at least 50 lbs. In possession of or able to acquire a DOT medical card. In possession of a functional smartphone with the ability to download route management apps. Flexible to react to seasonal availability needs.  Safe driving is a must.
