Henning’s Local is based in upstate New York in the western Catskills in Sullivan County and is seeking individuals who are interested learning, and making a difference in the culinary world. At Henning’s Local we serve Norwegian Chef Henning Nordanger’s take on American Comfort Food.  Henning has built long-term relationships with regional sustainable agricultural businesses, inculding farms, bakeries, wineries, distilleries and various culinary artisans throughout the Catskills and Hudson Valley.  Some of the locally sourced ingredients include: trout, chicken, turkey, duck, eggs, and an abundance of fresh seasonal produce grown in Henning’s own garden and greenhouses. Additionally, we believe in making everything the right way, from scratch, including our dressings, bread, pasta, popovers, and sauces. 

Job description
Our company is looking to hire an experienced and hardworking Sous Chef who can work independently under supervision. A successful candidate will be capable of reccomending new menu items, ensuring that a variety of items are prepared daily for dinner service, and assisting the head chef in all duties. The Sous Chef will also be responsible for keeping all food preparation kitchen areas clean and well-organized, expediting orders, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Willing to train the right candidate as long as they are ambitious and willing to learn.

Responsibilities: 
  • Produce high quality plates, including both design and taste
  • Help in the design of the food menu and offer suggestions and creative ideas 
  • Ensure that food is top quality and the kitchen is in good condition
  • Keeps stations clean and comply with food safety standards 
  • Take initiative to organize, clean, label, date when not fulfilling orders.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Expedite and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Direct food preparation and collaborates with Head Chef
  • Constantly implement a positive environment and help motivate co-workers.
Compensation this position is : hourly, $20/hr + Application instructions
