Senior Accountant - Tewksbury, MA (hybrid schedule)

 Walden Local is seeking an experienced accountant to bring their hands-on mindset and strong analytical skills to our small accounting team. This position will own the monthly and quarterly close cycles in addition to supervising AP/AR tasks and assisting with the quarterly and annual budgeting process in this growing, inventory-based business. As Walden Local continues to grow, there are opportunities to work on larger projects within the finance team and broader company.

What you’ll do:
  • Apply accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to all tasks
  • Own the mid-month-, month- and quarter-end closing process
  • Create and maintain accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for leadership, including the CEO, VP Finance and Board
  • Ensure proper tracking of inventory costs
  • Prepare the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports
  • Manage bank reconciliation for all bank accounts
  • Oversee AP and AR tasks, including collections
  • Field questions from vendors and customers
  • Partner with other members of the accounting team to complete day-to-day tasks and improve the overall close process 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on ad hoc projects to solve existing and future business challenges

 

What you’ll bring:
  • Detail-oriented and organized approach to day to day work 
  • Willingness to get hands dirty and jump in to do whatever needs to get done 
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate requirements to cross-functional teams 

 

REQUIREMENTS 
  • BS degree or equivalent work experience  
  • 5+ years professional accounting experience
  • 1+ year independently managing the close cycle
  • 1+ year working for an inventory-based company
  • Advanced Excel skills, including concepts of databases and using mathematical, logical, statistical and financial functions
