We raise sheep and goats currently for breeding stock, meat, and fiber and we also run a wholesale distribution company called the Maine Milk Mavens and distribute 19 Maine Creameries' cheeses across Maine.

Cheesemaker wanted! Position open! Beginning April/May

Fuzzy Udder Creamery is growing and we need to add another awesome human to our Cream Team! We are hoping to find someone who is passionate about farming and local food, especially dairy.

Ideal candidate has 3 + years of cheesemaking experience but we are open to training someone who has the passion and commitment. We are ideally looking for a 2 year commitment minimum.

Starting pay is $18-$20/hr depending on experience level. We have an apartment or a room in the farm house on site available for rent if desired.

We are looking for someone to join our cheesemaking team in 2023 and learn all of our cheeses so that they can take the helm as lead cheesemaker. We are also open to fostering creativity and a cheesemaker who wants to try out new recipes in the off season.

Activities will include making cheese, cleaning, dishwashing, wrapping cheese, and possibly some farm chores, farmers market and deliveries (but primarily cheesemaking). The ideal candidate would be excited to learn all the roles on our farm so they can step in and cover for other teammates as needed. Ideal candidate would be excited about living and working in a queer and trans friendly environment and loves all animals, especially dogs.

We offer 2 hours PTO per 40 hours worked and unlimited access to cheese and other farm products. The farm is spread between two locations in Whitefield one of which has an apple orchard, high bush blueberries and horses in addition to sheep and goats.

About Whitefield Maine: Only an hour from Portland which in 2019 was named a top foodie destination from Bon Appetit Magazine, and also only 45 minutes from breathtaking rocky and sandy beaches in the midcoast. Our farm is located up the hill from a general store that has all the local food one could desire as well as a cafe and bakery that hosts community events. Whitefield is a beautiful river valley with lots of forests and trails and even a popular nature center nearby. The Whitefield community is full of innovative farmers and other land-based workers striving to build a healthy vibrant community.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
