Fiddleheads Food Co-op is a cooperatively owned grocery store in New London, Connecticut that is open to all. We began as an indoor Winter farmers market with a few products and lots of hopes and dreams for our community and the food that nourished it.

Now, over a decade later, we are supported by over 4,200 local owners who strive to make healthy, local and sustainable products a priority. We are seeking a visionary, respectful and empathetic leader who is open-minded and excited to work with our diverse community to lead us through our next chapter.

Now Hiring! General Manager

New London is a small and very diverse community of 26,000 situated on the Connecticut coast along the Thames River. Rich in history and featuring beaches, funky coffee shops, an eclectic arts scene and lots of community events and festivals, there’s something for everyone. Our location also offers easy access to both New York City and Boston.

Our next GM will be ready to take on the challenges of growing our co-op and focusing on our priorities of food justice, inclusivity and supporting our local economy.

Our Ends are at the forefront of everything we do, and the GM implements the Ends everyday in the operations of the co-op:

Fiddleheads Natural Foods Cooperative exists so that Southeastern Connecticut (SE CT) is a healthy, robust, just, and inclusive community.

• Fiddleheads exists so that SE CT is a model for achieving food justice for all.
• Fiddleheads exists so that SE CT is a thriving locally based economy.
• Fiddleheads exists so that SE CT has a growing use of the co-op model.
• Fiddleheads exists so that SE CT is knowledgeable about food systems, and personal and environmental health.
• Fiddleheads exists so that SE CT has meaningful work opportunities in a supportive environment.

The GM oversees all aspects of co-op operations including finance, human resources, marketing, and community outreach. They will also cultivate our relationship with the greater New London community and promote cooperative values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity.

The GM reports to the Board of Directors who are elected by the members and responsible for governing the co-op as well as oversight and delegation to the GM. The Board uses the Policy Governance model and directs the General Manager through its policies.

Salary and Benefits:

• $75-$90,000 commensurate with experience
