Jessica Lasky Catering is a female-owned catering company based in Oakland, CA. Our small team is dedicated to crafting unpretentious seasonal fare. We strive to showcase and support local farmers and artisans and pride ourselves on being a kitchen free of ego. We value positive can-do attitudes and a good sense of humor. We produce around 250 events a year with guest counts between 10 and 1000 and tailor experiences that are both boutique and custom.

Job description
About the position:
Our team is actively seeking an experienced Event Catering Chef for events throughout the Bay Area--from SF and Oakland, to the Peninsula and South Bay, to Napa and Sonoma.
The Event Catering Chef will work directly with a team of chefs, cooks, and event managers to execute everything from small intimate dinner parties, to fundraisers and corporate events, to larger elegant weddings.
The Event Catering Chef will report directly to the on-site Event Lead and will assist in all aspects of event execution. These include but are not limited to kitchen set up and break down, the organization of mise-en-place and all pre-service preparation, and the overall execution of service. On site, the Event Catering Chef will have the opportunity to work various stations including appetizer/canapes, garde manger/cold/salad, and the hot line.
This is a part-time position with opportunity for up to 30 hrs per week.
This job requires:
-Proven experience as a cook in either a restaurant or catering environment (minimum 2 years).
-Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen health and safety rules.
-Candidates must possess a California Food Handler's Certificate (Manager certificate preferred) or the ability to acquire certification prior to start.
-A team player with solid communication skills and a positive attitude.
-Patience and the ability to stay positive under pressure.
-Frequent travel between work sites: (a valid driver's license is required).
-Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
-Ability to work comfortably in both indoor and outdoor environments including heat, cold, and or inclement weather.
-Ability to lift 50 lbs
Compensation:
-This is a part-time position with opportunity for up to 30 hrs/week.
-Excellent potential for growth and advancement.
-Compensation for this position BEGINS at $25/hour and is dependent upon experience.
-Mileage, toll, and transportation reimbursement is paid out quarterly.
